Scott Splichal, who manages the snack bar, said the stand is an important fundraiser for the club, and it provides a service to athletes and their families.
The stand is staffed by the club and members of the Southport High School Key Club, the Kiwanis organization for high schoolers.
Patrons may select from a variety of healthful items, including fresh fruit, low-calorie soft drinks, bottled water and low-sugar snacks.
Kiwanis International will celebrate its centennial June 25-28 with a convention at its Indianapolis headquarters.
Locally, the club meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday at IHOP, 7521 S. U.S. 31. The organization’s annual fish fry is July 17 and 18. Info: Steve Hadley at 710-3199.
