Southport’s Fourth of July Parade, which was postponed because of rain, was held Aug. 2 in conjunction with the Police Department’s National Night Out program, which featured games and food while promoting community policing. The event allows the police, children and residents to get to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere ... not at a police run, said Chief Thomas Vaughn. “That’s when they typically meet. It’s a good opportunity for the kids to see the officers and have a good time.” |
