SUBMITTED PHOTOS Southport High School’s basketball team has been visiting students at Homecroft Elementary on Wednesday afternoons. The players, who serve as positive role models, work with the children in numerous ways, including practice on sight words and flash cards and reading together. This is the second year that coach Kyle Simpson’s squad has worked with the children. Anica Rose (above, from left), Macey Lukas, Jason Dockery, Harley Sawyer, Mason Piatt and Norah Rothwell work on their reading skills.

Seniors ‘take over’ Roncalli

2/4/2015

Roncalli’s seniors “assumed control” of their school while participating in senior assist day Jan. 29. The students worked alongside of staff members to assist with teaching, administrative and cafeteria duties. The seniors acted the part as well as dressing it, wearing similar attire to the staff members they were assisting.
“It’s a lot of fun to see what it is like to run the school for a day,” said senior Bryce Bridgewater. “Mr. Chuck Weisenbach’s job as principal is a lot more fast-paced than I thought. He’s so busy all the time.”
