SUBMITTED PHOTO The Franklin Township Flashlights, a team of fourth- through sixth-graders from Thompson Crossing Elementary’s REACH program and Franklin Township Middle School East who build, test and program a robot to solve a set of missions, competed in the FirstLego League World Festival over the weekend in St. Louis. The team qualified for the competition by taking first-place honors at the state meet in January at Purdue Polytechnic Columbus. “We did not end up placing; however, given the level of talent at this event, I can’t even begin to say how proud we are that our team even qualified,” said Erin Fetters, a mother of one of the squad members. “We are a pretty new club, and I have no doubt this experience will pave the way for the future.” Team members are (front, from left) Grace Lewis, Kyle Mueller, Megan Gorrell, Ellie Adkisson; (standing) Abby Beatty, Nolan Richardson, Aidan Wasson, Morgan Huber, Nash Niemeier, Nolan Fetters and coach Clayton Moore.
