Roncalli freshman Savannah Evans (left) and sophomore Jenny Noone have received Pvt. John Lorenzano Memorial Scholarships and $1,000 toward tuition at the school.
The grants – awarded to students who have a firefighter as a parent – are funded by the Lorenzan family, whose son was killed in the line of duty when responding to a fire at the Indianapolis Athletic Club on Feb. 5, 1992.
Evans, whose father, Doug, is a captain with the Indianapolis Fire Department, and Noone, whose dad, Daniel, is a 23-year member of the department, were recognized for their performance in the essay contest: “What Makes You Proud That Your Parent Is a Firefighter.”
