Roncalli students (front, from left) Rachel Knierman, Paige Moore, Abigail Long; (back) Sarah Wulf, Kathryn Witsaman and Katey Reed combined for one gold key, four silver keys and two honorable mentions at this year’s Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Knierman, a senior, received a gold key for her art submission, “Butterfly Nerves, and will be moving on to the national competition at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Sophomores Abigail Long (memoir), Paige Moore (science fiction), Katey Reed (humor) and Sarah Wulf (poetry) earned silver keys in the writing category and have been invited to attend the Visions and Voices ceremony at Clowes Memorial Hall on Feb. 25.
Senior Witsaman received honorable mentions for her artworks, “Mischievous” and “Stress.”
Roncalli’s honorees join past recipients, including Robert Redford, Ken Burns, Andy Warhol and Truman Capote.
