SUBMITTEDS PHOTO A big kudos to the 52 members of Roncalli’s freshman football team for moving 60 tons of pavers, rock, gravel, mulch, wood chips and sand as a part of their community service project at the Benedict Inn & Retreat Center on Aug. 16. Coaches Kevin Banish and Scott Houser said their were playing worked hard and in unison. It was not more than a few minutes after arriving on-site that the team could be heard singing the school fight song and church hymns, making up their own chants and belting out “Lean on Me.” “The entire team was relentless in their work,” said Banich. “After all the work was complete and the guys lay exhausted on the ground and in their wheelbarrows, it was an incredible site to see what this team had accomplished. We have discussed with our athletes the importance of being unselfish and how we can accomplish incredible feats when we work together to serve a higher purpose and those around us.” The end result of three was a prayer walk built in conjunction with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
