SUBMITTED PHOTO Beech Grove High School students and FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) members (from left) Brindin Parrott and Abby Strahla have been chosen to compete at the national FFA convention in Louisville, Ky., in October. After being named the winners in the agri-science fair division of animal systems at the state convention over the summer, their experiment was reviewed by the national division, which deemed it worthy to be entered in the convention. Beech Grove’s Jordan Roach and Jordan Sneed were also winners at the state convention, but their experiment in the division of natural resources was not chosen as a finalist.

SUBMITTED PHOTO Girl Scout Troop 2394 traveled to Chicago over the summer and visited Willis Tower, where they stepped out onto the Skydeck. They also shopped on Michigan Avenue and explored the Museum of Science and Industry and The Field Museum. The girls learned how to use several forms of public transportation, including the rail system, buses, the subway and a water taxi. The Scouts, who funded their trip through their cookie sale, are (in no particular order) Taylor Morgan, Allison Gearlds, Samantha Warrner, Emily Elder, Beth Petree, Carlee Gearlds, Kaleah Estep, Jaiden Hawley, Jayda Curry, Mackenzie Hawley, Robyn Warrner, Alexis Sterrett and Alyssa Hawley.
