SUBMITTED PHOTO Landen Tilton (left), 11, and his cousin Gabe Tilton, 10, were treated to a four-day stay in New York City earlier this month for their birthdays, compliments of their grandmother Sandy Tilton. They saw sights from some of their favorites productions: Central Park Zoo from “Madagascar,” Rockefeller Center, “The Lion King” play on Broadway, Times Square and the American Museum of Natural History from a “Night at the Museum.” The boys helped to raise the sail on the ship that went around Ellis Island, and they enjoyed a view from the “Top of the Rock.” The one site they didn’t visit was the pizzeria where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles eat pizza. That might be for another trip. The boys, who noted that the New York City subway was awesome, said they look forward to sharing their experiences with their classmates. Landen and Gabe are fifth-graders at North Grove and Pleasant Grove elementary schools, respectively, in Center Grove.

MREs are what troops eat when they are deployed. The canoeists are (in no particular order) Ethan Smiley, Brent Strahla, Kody Conaway, Cameron Cardenas, Michelle Jennings, Sam Elliott, Josh Wofford, Walter Ballinger, Reecie Gilliam, Abbie Myers, Andrea Stevens, Dustin Fultz and Jake Weller. |
