SUBMITTED PHOTO Roncalli’s Joe Mullin (second from left) has received the $750 Karl Damon Andrews Heart and Soul Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a sophomore football player who exemplifies an excellent work ethic, strong leadership qualities and a Christian attitude. The award’s namesake graduated from Roncalli in 1979. He was known for touching the hearts of family, friends, peers and classmates and for leading by example on the field and in the classroom. SS. Francis & Clare of Assisi School fifth-graders Ella DeWitt, Seth Green and Vivian Johns have been accepted to the Ball State Institute for the Gifted in Mathematics (known as the“Big M”).
They and 24 fifth- and sixth-graders will work in teams for one week in June to explore connections between mathematics and science, number patterns and algebraic reasoning and brainteasers of all kinds. |
