| The fifth annual Remember Blake Car Show in Franklin was a huge success, as always. Although the numbers are not in yet, thousands of dollars were raised for several causes. The money will be distributed to the Johnson County Youth Assistance Crime Prevention Fund, the Boys and Girls Club of Johnson County and the Blake Dickus Criminal Tip Line Reward Fund, which is administered by the city of Franklin. Nearly 300 participants brought a great selection of hot rods, muscle cars and antique cars and trucks. Several hundred trophies were handcrafted by Richard Napier, Josh Starker, David Hyatt and Keith Sanders and each will – I’m sure – be treasured by its recipient. The event has turned into one of the largest car shows on the Southside; all of the hard work put into it is greatly appreciated by all of us car nutz. The show was held in memory of Blake Dickus, who was 10 when he and his 26-year-old stepmother, Chynna Dickus, were brutally slain July 24, 2006, in their Franklin home. Until next week, keep on cruising! |
