The warm weather brought the car nuts out in-force this past Friday night. There were over 85 street rods, antique cars, trucks and even a few full customs at the Southsider Voice’s cruise in. Our major sponsor, Dant Insurance Agency, provided the marjority of the food which was prepared by Kelly Sawyers, Wanda Cavinder and Denise Summers. Chick-Fil-A came throught as always with delicious chicken and sweet tea. Fazoli’s and Gerald Seacat also donated food which in all was enough to feed everyone in attendance. Other sponsors include Dan Shine, Beck Service Center and Ponderosa. Without these folks’ help and generosity we would not be able to put on such a fun community event each month! Also, I would like to acknowledge Brett Sawyers who works tirelessly setting up the show, tearing down and final clean up. Once again we had folks bringing cars from up to 40 miles away as we are gaining quite a loyal group of participants. As I have said all along when people thank us and tell us how much they enjoy the cruise in, we appreciate that. There wouldn’t be a cruise in with all of the participants who bring all of the cool cruisers out for all to enjoy rain or shine. We still have one more fun evening planned for Friday, Oct. 3rd. Watch the paper for a possible earlier start time due to earlier sunsets. The always fun Hoosier Auto and Swap Meet will have something for everyone with their 48th annual event at the Marion County Fairgrounds Sept. 19-20 and don’t forget the Cars-R-Us car show on Main St. in Beech Grove on Sunday, Sept. 28. I plan on attending both of those events and hope to see you there! Until next week, Keep on Cruising! |
