With a long career in secondary education and school communications, Richards began painting instruction through the Indianapolis Art Center about 12 years ago. She is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana and has exhibited in its shows and has earned recognition through the center and the Indiana State Fair.
“Art is a relaxing hobby for now, and I look forward to spending more time painting in the future,” said Richards, who serves as the director of communications at the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis. “I’ve always enjoyed activities that involve creating visually with color and textures.”
She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Indiana and Ball State universities, respectively.
An open house in her honor will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood. The exhibit may be viewed from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays.
