University of Indianapolis faculty members Marko Petricic and Thomas Gerber will explore compositions from the early 17th century (Gabrieli) to the present day (UIndy’s John Berners) in a free program of music for organ and harpsichord, including duets by 300th birthday boy C.P.E. Bach.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave., “Baroque and Beyond” will feature harpsichordist Gerber performing a suite by Jean-Philippe Rameau, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death.

The program will also showcase Petricic spicing up the evening with music of Johann Kaspar Kerll, Louis-Claude Daquin and Gottlieb Muffat on the organ and bayan.

The school’s cultural calendar will also feature a lecture by award-winning fiction writer Jeffrey Condran at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Schwitzer Student Center.

His debut novel, “Prague Summer,” has been called “tense and atmospheric.” He lives in Pittsburgh, where he is a co-founder of the independent literary press Braddock Avenue Books.
