Sleeping Beauty at the Fair
SUBMITTED PHOTO Weighing in at a whopping 1,134 pounds and sporting a red-tinted coat, Big Red claimed first-place honors in the Indiana State Fair’s largest male hog contest. The champion, who eats about 25 pounds of food a day, beat out five other hogs for the title; the reserve champion weighed in at 1,033 pounds. Owner Rick Whistler, along with daughter Teagan, 4, said Big Red, whose name was an obvious choice, can be seen in the Swine Barn.
