Free Christmas Party for All Veterans
Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, 857 N. State Road 135, Greenwood, will host a free Christmas party and dinner for all military members and their families at 5 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature a visit from Santa, a chili cook-off and Army Maj. Gerald Glaze recalling what holiday patrols were like during the Vietnam War. The church is always collecting toiletries and clothing for veterans. Info: 416-7888.

Christmas Program Will Feature Songs, Stories
The Garfield Arts Center, 2450 Shelby St., will welcome Bob Willsey and guest pianist Sally Lantz for a free Christmas concert and Yuletide stories at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Rudolph’s Cousin at White River Library
A cousin of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and other animals native to Santa Claus land at the North Pole will visit White River Library, 1664 Library Blvd., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17. Info: 885-1330 or visit www.pageafterpage.org.

Park’s Conservatory Is a Winter Wonderland
The Garfield Park Conservatory, 2450 Shelby St., has been transformed into a winter wonderland with a multitude of poinsettias and twinkling lights, running model trains and villages. Conservatory Crossing runs through Dec. 31 and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, with extended hours until 8 p.m. Dec. 18-20 and 26 and 27. Admission is $3 per person or $8 for families (maximum of two adults). Children can visit with Santa from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for free Saturday, and plenty of holiday fun awaits the little ones at the arts and family centers. Info: 327-7184.

Christmas Sale at Benedict Inn in Beech Grove
The “Inn-spired” Christmas sale at Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center, 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove, will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The sale will feature Springerle cookies, religious items, some Sassy Design Jewelry for $5 and lots of marked-down items. Pictures will be available with Santa from 10 a.m.-noon for $5. Baxter YMCA Will Host Breakfast With Santa
Baxter YMCA, 7900 Shelby St., is hosting its annual breakfast with Santa from 8-11 a.m. Saturday. The cost for members is $15 per family (two adults maximum), $3 for children ages 3 to 9 and $5 per person 10 and older. Children 2 and under can eat for free. The cost for nonmembers is $6. Adults can attend for free if they don’t plan on eating. Photo packages will be available. Info: 881-9347.

Beech Grove Library Will Show French Christmas Movie
“Joyeux Noel,” a 2005 French film about the World War I truce around Christmas in 1914, will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Beech Grove Library, 1102 Main St. The movie is depicted through the eyes of the French, Scottish and German soldiers. Info: 788-4203.


Breakfast With Santa and Christmas Movie
St. John’s United Church of Christ, corner of U.S. 31 and Southport Road, will host breakfast with Santa at 9 a.m. Saturday. In addition to telling Santa their secret Christmas wishes, children can enjoy games and crafts. “A Christmas Carol” will be shown at 6 p.m. Saturday, with popcorn, candy and soft drinks being served. Historical Society Will Present Old-fashioned Christmas
The Franklin Township Historical Society will host an old-fashioned Christmas from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at its meeting house, 6510 S. Franklin Road, where there will be caroling, cookies and a visit from St. Nick. Joe Seiter will present a variety of Victorian-era die cuts, books and paper ephemera featuring Father Christmas. There will also be a discussion on long-ago Christmases.
