Park’s Conservatory Is a Winter Wonderland
The Garfield Park Conservatory, 2450 Shelby St., has been transformed into a winter wonderland with a multitude of poinsettias and twinkling lights, running model trains and villages. Conservatory Crossing runs through Dec. 31 and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, with extended hours until 8 p.m. Dec. 18-20 and 26 and 27. Admission is $3 per person or $8 for families (maximum of two adults). Baxter YMCA, 7900 Shelby St., is hosting its annual breakfast with Santa from 8-11 a.m. Saturday. The cost for members is $15 per family (two adults maximum), $3 for children ages 3 to 9 and $5 per person 10 and older. Children 2 and under can eat for free. The cost for nonmembers is $6. Historical Society Will Present Old-fashioned Christmas
The Franklin Township Historical Society will host an old-fashioned Christmas from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at its meeting house, 6510 S. Franklin Road, where there will be caroling, cookies and a visit from St. Nick. Joe Seiter will present a variety of Victorian-era die cuts, books and paper ephemera featuring Father Christmas. There will also be a discussion on long-ago Christmases.
