Indiana’s State Parks Featured in Art Exhibit
An opening reception for “Nature of Art: Painted Parks,” a compilation of 70 paintings by Rick Wilson that captures the unique characteristics of the Indiana’s state parks, will be on display from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Indiana Landmarks Center’s Rapp Family Gallery, 1201 Central Ave. The works range from indigenous flora and native wildlife to inspiring vistas, a herd of bison at Ouabache State Park near Bluffton and the canyons of Turkey Run State Park in Parke County. The gallery is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free. Info: 317-639-4534.

Artist’s Work on Display

The award-winning artwork of John Manicke, who paints and sketches, is on display this month at the Southside Art League, 229 E. Broadway St., Greenwood. An open house in his honor will be held from 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday. The gallery’s regular hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Call 317-882-5562 to arrange for a tour outside of those hours.   
 
Auditions for Young, Adult Actors

Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre will hold auditions Saturday, March 11, for boys and girls ages 6-15 to be cast in “Shrek,” which will be staged May 18 through July 2. Those auditioning should prepare at least one vocal selection and bring sheet music in the correct key.
The theater is also hosting auditions from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, March 13, for adult roles in “Shrek, the Musical,” “West Side Story,” “Ghost” and “A Beef & Boards Christmas.” Auditioners should prepare 16-24 bars of two contrasting vocal selections with sheet music in the correct key. They also need to bring a recent 8-by-10-inch photo and  an updated resume. Info: www.beefandboards.com.

Scholarships Available to Theater Students
Applications are being accepted for Buck Creek Players’ Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarships. Any high school senior or college freshman who is enrolled or accepted into a performing arts related major/minor at a college is eligible. Applicants will be based on their accomplishments and involvement in the performing arts. Recipients will receive a minimum scholarship of $1,000. Applications are available at www.buckcreekplayers.com and must be submitted by March 31.
