Arana, a self-taught artist who works with a combination of acrylic and ink to create vibrantly colored abstract and figurative works, said he is inspired by his daughter, music and everyday events.
Born of Cuban descent among the swaying palms and sweltering heat of Miami in 1978, Arana recalls the bouncing rhythms of Latin beats carrying the scent of Cuban coffee down Eight Street. He earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Florida in 2001 and moved to southern California before relocating to Indianapolis.
Since Arana’s art, which will be displayed throughout February, lends itself to an amazing 3-D experience, the gallery will have 3-D glasses on hand.
The event also features jazz music by The Sunset Four. Info: Sherry Stiver at 822-3865.
