The colorful artwork of Patricia Voelz will be displayed and sold throughout November at the Southside Art League.
“I’ve always loved art,” Voelz said. “Even as a little child I loved color. The bright colors in my color box were worn out quickly while the dull colors remained new. My older sister made me color in the line. I started painting at an early age by watching my sister, grandmother and aunt paint beautiful paintings with oil.”
Voelz said she was in awe when first seeing how the blended colors melted into many different colors and hues. “I was hooked. For years I painted with oils but gradually ventured into acrylic watercolor, pen and ink, collage and various other types of painting and creating.
“I’ve always been intrigued by new and exciting art. I experiment with unusual ideas like abstract faces. One of my latest adventures has been to create art using puzzle pieces (below).”
Her work can be viewed from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday at the gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood.
