Centered Around Christ, a charity that supports the needy and homeless, is holding a yard sale and flea market in conjunction with this weekend’s fish fry at Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road. The sale will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with the fish fry running from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. both days. The menu includes fried and baked fish, tenderloin sandwiches, fries, slaw, baked beans and homemade desserts. On-site dining will be available, as will drive-through service.
Car Raffle Tickets Go on Sale Saturday
Center Grove High School’s Band Boosters is holding a car raffle to help fund the band’s trip to New York City to participate in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Tickets, $40 each or three for $100 (4,000 will be sold), go on sale Saturday during a car wash from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the school, 2717 S. Morgantown Road, Greenwood. Traveling Quartet at Edgewood United Methodist Church
The Cavaliers Quartet, which has traveled the country singing the praises of Christ and His love since 1993, will perform at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Edgewood United Methodist Chuch, 1820 E. Epler Road. The group, a regular at the National Quartet Convention and Dollywood’s Southern Gospel and Harvest Celebration, features brothers Anthony and Wayne O’Neil, Ben Mullins and his nephew Jason Reese. The men are known for their uplifting music and stirring ballads.
Children Can Learn About Water Safety at Baxter YMCA
A free Splash Program for children ages 6-12 continues from 4:50-5:30 p.m. and 5:40-6:20 p.m. today and Thursday at Baxter YMCA, 7900 Shelby St., where participants will learn how to be safe in and around water. Call 881-9347 to register for the free program.
Franklin Township Authors Showcased; Wanamaker Street Fair
A program showcasing Franklin Township authors and their books will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Road Library, 5550 S. Franklin Road, where door prizes will be awarded. Wanamaker’s Old Settlers Day Street Fair and Classic Car Show is Sunday, and the township’s Historical Society will sell memberships for $10 and books about the area’s history. A display of antique farm implements will be held inside (and outside, weather permitting) the Meeting House, 6501 S. Franklin Road, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 15.
