Pacers Mascot at Fundraiser
Boomer, the mascot for the Indiana Pacers, will be the featured attraction when Greenwood Library hosts a fundraiser from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Middle School, 523 S. Madison Ave. Boomer will demonstrate his dunking ability, sign autographs and pose for pictures. There will also be games and giveaways. Admission is $5. Info: 881-1953.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., is holding a street fair from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature food, beverages, entertainment, bingo, children’s games and visits from McGruff the Crime Dog and representatives of IndyClaw Rescue and the Indianapolis Police and Fire departments.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3932 MiCasa Ave., off Gray Road one block north of Southport Road, is holding a huge sale from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The sale will feature antiques, old books and posters, records, political items, doll clothes and accessories, art glass, toys, games, stamps and rummage items.
Political Collectors Convention
The Midwest Regional Political Collectors Convention will be held Thursday-Friday, Sept. 8-10, at LaQuinta Inns & Suites South, 5120 Victory Drive, off the 4500 block of South Emerson Avenue. Collectors and dealers of political memorabilia will spend the three days buying, selling, trading and discussing the growing hobby. The Pyramid of Enlightenment Spiritual Center, 8101 E. Washington St., will host a psychic fair from noon-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be readers ($10 for 15 minutes) of all types, including astrology, clairvoyance, numerology, palmistry and tarot. Door prizes and aura pictures will also be available. Southport High School’s Class of 1960 will hold its annual reunion Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10.
