World Day of Prayer will be celebrated at Southport Christian Church, 201 E. Epler Ave., at 11 a.m. Friday. The prayer, whose theme is “Am I being unfair to you,” was written by the women of the Philippines. The service will allow worshipers to explore concepts of economic justice in the Philippines and worldwide. The service will be preceded by a social at 10 a.m.
Human Trafficking Addressed
The Indianapolis Star’s Tim Swarens will present an informative program on human trafficking from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Road. Music Collectors Show and Sale
Featuring out-of-print and hard-to-find records, compact discs, DVDs, tapes, etc., a music show and sale will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at La Quinta Inn & Suites, 5120 Victory Drive, just east of I-465 and Emerson Avenue. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With Mass, Dinner, Dancing
St. Patrick Parish will host an international dinner with traditional cuisine and seafood from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 17, at its parish hall, 950 Prospect St. The evening will also feature Irish and Latin music. Tickets are $5 for children ages 12 and under, $8 for adults. A bilingual Mass will precede the dinner at 6 p.m.
Bulb Show Opens at Garfield Park
The annual spring bulb show at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 2450 Shelby St., opens Friday and runs through March 10. From classic favorites to unique hybrids of tulips, hyacinth, daffodils and more, your sneak peek of spring is here. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission for the show and those that follow is $4 per person, $10 per family (two adults maximum). A bulb sale starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11.
Senior Promise Opens New Office
As Franciscan Senior Promise observes 30 years of serving tens of thousands of central Indiana residents, the agency continues to extend its reach with the opening of a new office at 8778 Madison Ave. The facility features a large meeting room, a coffee bar and access to computer stations. An open house to celebrate the opening will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. Friday, March 3. There is also an office at 8111 S. Emerson Ave.
