Santa Will Make Special Appearance at Home Center
A news bulletin from the North Pole has confirmed that Santa Claus will make a special appearance at Cardwell Do-it Best Home Center from 11 a.m.-to 1 p.m. Saturday. Children will receive a gift from Santa while having the opportunity to tell him their secret Christmas wishes. Santa’s helpers will assist in providing candy, popcorn and balloons to all of the children. People wanting to support the center’s toy drive can drop off tax-deductible donations at 3205 Madison Ave. Info: 317-781-4768.

Christmas Concerts at UIndy

The University of Indianapolis’ choral, instrumental and handbell ensembles will present their annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Sunday at the DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. The performances will feature traditional carols and music from the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. Tickets, $6 for students and seniors, $10 general admission, are available at the door or by visiting www.uindyedu/etc.

Open House for Fletcher Place Executive Director
An open house for the Rev. Jessi Langlie, who’s retiring as executive director of Fletcher Place Community Center, will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the center, 1637 Prospect St. Langlie’s colleagues say she has skillfully and successfully guided Fletcher Place for the past 23 years. “Her warmth and smile will be missed by the many people that have come to know and value her,” they said.  “We are deeply indebted to Jessi for her leadership and tremendous level of dedication for so many years.” 
 
Church Will Give Away Baked Goods
St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 2560 S. Villa Ave., will give away baked goods from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, or until the supply runs out. 

Support Group for Veterans Meets
Warrior’s Hope, an organization that assists veterans and active-duty personnel in finding positive methods to deal with the issues that trigger combat-related imagery or trauma, meets from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at 444 N. Madison Ave., Greenwood.

Christmas Party, Dinner for Veterans and Their Families
 Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, 857 N. State Road 135, Greenwood, is hosting a free Christmas party and dinner for all veterans and their families at 5 p.m. Sunday. Info: 317-416-7888.
