Chicken and Noodles Dinner
Greenwood Eastern Star, 592 N. Meridian St., will host its semiannual chicken and noodles dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $3 for children ages 3-12, $7 per adult. Carryout service will be available.
Book, Postcard, Political and Paper Show and Sale
Beech Grove High School’s Renaissance Program, a student incentive initiative, will host a book, postcard, political and paper show and sale from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the school, 5330 Hornet Ave. Vendors will feature a variety of books, including rare and autographed ones, thousands of postcards, movie posters, magazines and other paper and political items of interest. Lunch and desserts will be available.
Candy Exchange a Sweet Deal Troops
Dental care provider Kool Smiles is sponsoring its sixth annual Operation Troop Treats, which encourages children to bring their Halloween candy to its office at 3658 S. East St. through Saturday in exchange for a toy through Saturday. All the candy will be sent to service members overseas.
Japanese Culture Will Be Explored

Essay Contest
The Fleet Reserve Association is seeking entrants for its national Americanism essay contest, which runs through Dec. 1 for students in Grades 7-12.
