Monument Star ABWA Meets

Manual Class of 1971 Reunion
Manual High School’s Class of 1971 will host its 45-year reunion from 7 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Oct. 22, at The Atrium, 3143 E. Thompson Road. Scottish Games and Festival
Featuring world-class amateur athletes and fun for the entire family, the seventh annual Indianapolis Scottish Highland Games & Festival will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday at German Park, 8600 S. Meridian St. The entertainment will feature bagpipers, live music and dancers. There will also be Scotch whisky tasting, food, vendors and a Scottish royal court. Family Fun Day at Airport
Greenwood Municipal Airport, 897 Airport Parkway, is hosting a family fun day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. There will be free airplane rides for children ages 8-17, youth activities, a military simulator, an Army climbing wall, aircraft on display, representatives from police and fire departments and food available for purchase. 

Trash to Treasures Sale
A rummage sale to benefit Centered Around Christ Ministry will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road.

Sorority Will Host Rush Party
Gamma Pi chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is hosting a rush party at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Latitudes Clubhouse, 8940 E. County Line Road. The informal meeting will highlight the philanthropic and service opportunities through the sorority, which prides itself as a network that unites good people to accomplish good things. Program Covers Self-management of Diabetes
The Marion County Health Department’s ABCs of Diabetes, a free four-part program that covers the self-management of the disease, will be offered from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursdays this month at the South District Health Office. Topics of discussion will include diet, medications and exercise. Participants are asked to attend all sessions. Call 221-2094 or visit www.mchd.com/diabetes to register.

Remembering Those Lost to Drugs and/or Alcohol
The Celebration of Lives Lost – a complimentary dinner event to remember those who have lost their lives to drugs and/or alcohol – will take place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, 7001 W. 56th St. The program will feature live music, guest speakers and a silent auction. Free Wellness Classes
The Franciscan Health Heart Center, 8111 S. Emerson Ave., is registering people for free classes that focus on wellness: Dizzy spells – what should I do? 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, and meatless cooking tips, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. Call 782-4422 to register.

Libraries Will Be Closed Monday
Although all Indianapolis Public Library branches will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, for the annual staff in-service day, patrons may review the library’s catalog of materials or renew or place holds on items by visiting www.indypl.org. They may also renew materials by calling 269-5222.
