Linda E. Minton, a retired Franklin Township educator, has published her second book about World War II: “Remembering WWII Women.” Her first release was “WWII Heroes: We Were Just Doing Our Jobs.” Both books are firsthand accounts of military and homefront men and women who lived during the war. It took the whole country to win the war, and the stories tell of these people’s struggles and victories during the war, Minton said. Books are available for $15 at www.Amazon.com.

Visitors to the Eiteljorg Museum will discover an enhanced experience of beautiful and thought-provoking artworks starting Sunday when the museum’s renovated Western art galleries open to the public. The redesigned galleries will showcase the exhibition “Attitudes: The West in American Art,” which feature iconic paintings and sculptures from the museum’s renowned collection as well as newly acquired artworks, including a dramatic Western landscape, a historical scene of mountains and pottery. The exhibition explores the diversity of people who shaped the West through a high-tech interactive display that interprets the 20th century mural painting “Americanization of California.” A series of special events will launch the exhibit, and the opening will kick off a holiday season of activities and programming that will appeal to families. The Christmas model train display, “Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure,” returns Nov. 17. More information about the museum, 500 West Washington St., is available by visiting www.eiteljorg.org or calling 317-636-9378. |
