Manual High School’s Class of 1954 held its annual summer reunion Aug. 25 at the Garfield Park Arts Center.
The former classmates chose the park because it was like a second home to many of them when they were growing up. With the swimming pool, a shelter house for dances and fields for baseball and football, the park was a popular hangout.
Enjoying a catered lunch from Chick-fil-A are (from left) Kay Gootee, Jean Ahrendts, Ruth and Bill Kirkman, Diane (McCrory) Neely, Carolyn (Jensen) Cambridge and Frederick Sager.
The class honored JB Driver (below, left) as its distinguished graduate. The former auctioneer, who’s seen with his wife, Alice, talked about his career.
Ray Schultz, a former teacher, coach and athletic director for the Redskins, also spoke and discussed his latest book, “The Match,” which involves competition, suspense and surprise endings.
Geri (Carden) Sears (below, right) checked in guests and even allowed Southport graduate David Heldman to have lunch.
