Three first-responding organizations have been formally presented donations from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The Greenwood Firehouse Subs raised enough money for a thermal imaging camera for Ladder 91 of Greenwood Fire Department, which purchased the device earlier this year. Darin Hoggatt, division chief of emergency medical services, accepted the donation Aug. 26 on behalf of the department.
“It (the camera) helps our community fulfill a void that we didn’t have the means to fulfill before,” Hoggatt said. “Every truck that goes out the door on a fire run has a thermal imaging camera that can help us when we go to look for victims of a fire or a hidden fire or hot spot in that building.”
Contributions were also made to the Greenfield Fire Department and the Danville Police Department.
The Greenwood High School choir performed the national anthem, and Greenwood’s 1956 fire engine was displayed.
