Center Grove dominated the Southport girls golf sectional Friday at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin.
The No. 12-ranked Trojans, led by Shelby Schier’s 82, fired a 338, 23 fewer strokes than runner-up Perry Meridian and 55 less than third-place Roncalli. Those teams plus Southport’s Ntay Ni Sui, who shot a 90, and Franklin Central’s Katelyn Teter, 95, qualified for the Roncalli Regional at 8 a.m. Saturday at Smock Golf Course.
Center Grove’s lowest scores were posted by Sydney Abbott, 83; Lucy Young, 83; and Hannah Wilson, 87. Perry Meridian’s scores included Annie Eisenbarth’s 81, Enka Shelenberger’s 82, Alex Quinlan’s 99 and Sloane Howard’s 99. Roncalli’s Elaina Smith fired a 90, followed by Corina Defendeifer, 96; Annie Sullivan, 99; and Sophia Egold, 108.
Beech Grove placed fourth, 17 strokes behind Roncalli. Alyssa Alford led the Hornets with a 92.
Greenwood’s Julianna Laney qualified for the Mount Vernon Regional with a 92 Saturday at Old Oakland Golf Club. The Woodmen were sixth in the sectional.
