The men’s basketball team from the University of Indianapolis is on fire, having won all seven of its games this year.
The Greyhounds (10-7, 7-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) defeated St. Joseph’s 98-75 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Jan. 16, McKendree (Ill.) 88-70 and Illinois Springfield 70-67 last week. Roncalli’s Jimmy King scored 14 against St. Joseph’s and 18 in the McKendree game, hitting 4-of-4 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. King tallied 12 against Illinois Springfield while snaring five rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Next up is a couple of home dates: Bellarmine at 7:45 p.m. Thursday and Southern Indiana at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
The lady Greyhounds (13-6-7-2) also won three games last week, defeating the same teams 83-44, 62-51 and 71-53. Nicole Anderson, one of only two seniors on the team, scored in double figures in all three contests.
Marian’s men’s team lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene 78-69; Perry Meridian’s Curtis Green scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and had two assists. In a 60-57 win over Goshen, Green tallied nine points and had four steals and four rebounds.
The Knights (11-11, 2-8 Crossroads Conference) will host Taylor at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The lady Knights (19-3, 9-1) defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene behind the play of Roncalli graduates Kellie Kirkhoff and Rachel Titzer, who scored 13 and seven points, respectively.
Marian also defeated Goshen 102-51; Kirkhoff had a team-high 23 points while Titzer added 11.
The team travels to St. Francis for a 7 p.m. game today before returning home to entertain Taylor at 1 p.m. Saturday.
