The University of Indianapolis’ men’s basketball team played two games in St. Louis last week, defeating Missouri-St. Louis 64-57 Jan. 5 and Maryville 69-59 Jan. 7.
Roncalli graduate Jimmy King started against Missouri-SL and scored five points in 33 minutes. Ajay Lawton had a team-high 21 points.
The Greyhounds (5-7, 2-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will host Missouri S&T at 7:45 p.m. Thursday and Drury at 3 Saturday before playing St. Joseph at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 9:15 p.m. Jan. 16.
The lady Greyhounds (9-5, 3-1) also played the aforementioned teams on the same dates, defeating Missouri-SL 76-65 and Maryville 74-61. Martha Burse led the ’Hounds in both games with 26 and 19 points, respectively, and five steals in each contest.
The team’s upcoming schedule is the same as the men’s; the start times are about two hours earlier.
Marian’s women’s team (15-3, 5-1 Crossroads League) defeated Bethel 81-58 Jan. 7 and Taylor 81-58 Jan. 9. The Knights will travel to Grace Jan. 11 for a 7 p.m. game before returning home to host Huntington at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The men’s team (9-9, 0-6) lost to Bethel 71-64 Jan. 3 and to Taylor 82-67 Jan. 7. The Knights travel to Grace Jan. 14.
