Fishburn’s comment: “On paper this is as good a team as I have ever coached in high school, as good a team as we have ever had, talent wise. We have to put it together. With the senior leadership and the experience they have plus a couple of sophomores who have been playing since they were little kids; it’s going to be a really, really good and successful season. There’s no question we should improve on last year’s results.”
GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (14-15) – Optimism is high as coach Fishburn, who used to coach at Triton Central takes the reins … Megan Tolen serves as volunteer assistant … GCA returns with five solid competitors … outside hitter Hannah Peters, setter Lexi Hooten and 6-2 middle hitter Delanie Kent – all seniors – give GCA size, power and experience … Peters is team’s most vocal leader … sizzlin’ sophs, libero Grace Peters and outside hitter Gilson were outstanding as freshmen … senior newcomer Lauren Dailey, right side, and sophs Katherine Cruse, outside hitter, and Sarah Mangan, middle hitter, complete the puzzle … fell to rival Lutheran last year in sectional semifinal … Cougars face strong field Saturday at Triton Central Invitational at 10 a.m.
