Thirty Years Ago This Week – 1987
The new traffic control system at U.S. 31 and Thompson Road cost about $662,000. The system – only the fourth one being used in the state – was designed to give the best traffic flow possible.

Joe Miller, co-owner of Miller’s Regal Market, 215 E. Terrace Ave., was retiring after having worked 56 years at the Southside landmark. Brother Dick and his son, Rick, would continue manning the store.
