Longtime Southsiders Mary Lawrence and Donna Singleton opened The Cracker Barrel at 6953 Madison Ave. The specialty food shop featured 56 kinds of cheeses, fine meats, potato salad and other prepared food, olives and party items.

John J. Noone, who had been in the banking industry since 1928, was retiring from American Fletcher National Bank, where he served as vice president. Noone graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended Butler and Indiana universities. He and his wife, Cecilia, had two sons, Mike and Jack.
