On behalf of Beech Grove, I would like to wish everyone a pleasant Memorial Day weekend.
I’m able to pen this letter as a free person because of the men and women who served our country, and I’m thankful for that.
We cannot forget those who are serving, those who served and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
We welcome everyone to our Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sarah T. Bolton Park, 1300 Churchman Ave.
We will pay homage to veterans and Beech Grove police officer Tom Kleis, who died May 29, 1991, while serving our city.
Lt. Kleis flew more than 900 sorties while serving in the Vietnam War.
Dennis B. Buckley
Mayor of Beech Grove
