To the editor:
After years of facility design and campaign planning, I am excited to announce that Roncalli has launched the On This Rock: Building Faith and Family Capital Campaign.
This major fundraising effort is the result of a visioning process undertaken by school leadership and the board of directors to further transform our campus by addressing major facility needs.
As we approach our 50th anniversary, it is an opportune time for our community to reflect on our progress and look to the future. For over 20 years now we have been working toward the completion of a facility plan that began at the direction of Archbishop Emeritus Daniel M. Buechlein in 1993. Since that time our work to implement this plan has included the addition of nearly 30 classrooms, a fine arts center, a chapel, a new entrance and a new multipurpose gymnasium.
The final step in this extended journey of stewardship remains to be taken, which is completing the remaining classrooms, expanding the kitchen and cafeteria and building the new “family room” for the Roncalli family. For more than two years our Facility Committee has studied the best way to meet these remaining objectives in a way that is most efficient and yet meets the growing needs of our students and community in the 21st century.
Our plan is to allocate the funds raised according to the framework below:
• New family room/gym: $3.1 million.
• Additional classroom and fine arts space: $1.04 million.
• Kitchen and cafeteria expansion and gym renovation: $720,000.
• Fitness center and auxiliary gym renovation: $600,000.
• Additional parking and property acquisition: $450,000.
• Student commons: $100,000.
• Increase facility maintenance endowment funds (per archdiocesan policy): $475,000.
We will need everyone’s prayers, assistance and generous participation to bring this vision to a reality. I hope you will join us in this effort.
