The contest, which runs through Dec. 31, is designed to raise awareness about the many benefits of using a library card to take advantage of the free resources of the library, which has become one of the players’ primary community endorsements since arriving to Indianapolis in 2012.
“This is all about letting kids know how important the library can be in their lives and encouraging them to experience the joy of reading,” said Luck. “As an avid reader myself, this is a special opportunity for me to make a difference in getting young ones excited about learning.”
“I’ve always said that having a library card is like having a key to my own universe,” said Allen. “Whether it’s books, e-books or online resources, everything at the library is at my fingertips.”
Any time young people use their cards (one entry per day), they will be entered for a chance to win a visit from Luck. The winner, who can invite 20 of his friends, will be notified Jan. 9.
Last year’s contest generated 31,566 entries. Details are available at any branch or by visiting www.indypl.org.
