The Southport Lions Club Inc. hosted a spaghetti dinner Oct. 3 and raised about $3,000 to purchase body cameras – they cost about $300 each – for the Southport Police Department.
Loading up the plates are Lions (from left) Mike Ault, Candace Hall, Cayle Gagne, Tina Roe and Judy Hoffmann.
The club used the occasion to present a check for $1,000 to the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation. Those on hand for the presentation were (below, from left) Lion AJ Johnson, Mayor Jesse Testruth, Parks Director Marylynne Winslow and Police Chief Tom Vaughn.
And the club was on the receiving end of a $1,200 check from 40 & 8, a veterans organization; those funds were figured in the $3,000 raised during the dinner. Seen with the mayor are (bottom) Lion Bob Roe, Jim Cox from 40 & 8, Johnson and Vaughn.
