Albertson has committed the past six years to helping refugees to the United States make the adjustment to life in Indianapolis.
She has taught English to Burmese and Syrian children and greeted refugee families at Indianapolis International Airport.
She also spent parts of two summers in South Korea, teaching English to children there. Albertson will continue that effort when she attends Marian University in Indianapolis this fall.
She is the daughter of Rusty and Julie Albertson and a parishioner of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
