Students from Beech Grove High School will fan out into the community Friday morning to help clean up area businesses and residences.
Their efforts will include picking up trash, mulching along Main Street, raking leaves, pulling weeds and other chores. Some students will also visit nursing homes to help set up for Halloween parties, as well as chat with residents. The high schoolers will be easily spotted in their bright green shirts, which were donated by DEEM, an Indianapolis-based electrical mechanical company that has satellite offices in the Midwest and Southeast. Students will be able to log four of their required 20 hours of community service for the 2014-15 school year, which is a new addition to graduation requirements. Afterward, students will return to the school for lunch while reflecting on their experience. |
