Footlite Musicals will continue its Young Artists series with seven performances of “Cats.” Making its debut at Footlite, the musical will be staged by a cast of 13- to 18-year-olds. With music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd-Webber, the Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heavieside layer. The internationally acclaimed production, which features the haunting stage score “Memories,” thrilled audiences in London and Broadway for more than 21 and 18 years, respectively. The show opens Aug. 15 with additional performances Aug. 16, 17 and 21-24 at Hedback Community Theatre, 1847 N. Alabama St. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. for the Thursday performance, 8 p.m. for the Friday and Saturday shows and 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Admission for the Thursday show is $10, $15 for the rest.
