SUBMITTED PHOTO The work of children’s author Barbara Park has come to life in Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre’s production of “Junie B. Jones, the Musical.” The action follows Junie on her first day of school as a first-grader. Since Lucille doesn’t want to be Junie’s best pal anymore, Junie makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school, on the bus. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a top-secret personal journal, and first grade has never been more exciting. The cast features (front, from left) Samuel McKanney, Jaddy Ciucci, Katy Gentry; (middle row) Jameelah Leaundra, Carrie S. Neal, Amanda Lehman, Sally Scharbrough; (back) Antonio Leroy King, Justin Klein and Trenton Baker. Performances are for all ages but offered particularly for preschoolers through fourth-graders. Children have the opportunity to meet the cast after each show for pictures and autographs. Curtain time is at 10 a.m. most Fridays and 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. most Saturdays through March 19. Tickets are $15.50 and can be reserved by calling 872-9664. A show schedule is listed at beefandboards.com.
