Garfield Shakespeare Company will present “Camelot” at the MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts at Garfield Park, 2450 Shelby St., for three weekends beginning Friday. The legend of King Arthur has enchanted generation after generation. His perfect kingdom was shattered because of the tragic passion between Queen Guinevere and the Round Table’s bravest knight, Sir Lancelot. In 1960, Alan Jay Lerner adapted the story for Broadway with music by Frederick Loewe. The tale and the score have made the production a classic musical full of humor and the real struggles that everyone faces when trying to create a better, more chivalrous, world. Directed by Joe Cook with music direction by Linda Parr, “Camelot” features Jay Brubaker, Desiree Law, Joshua Law, Guy Grubbs, Brock Hal, Steve Pluckebaum and many others. It will also showcase the instrumental talents of the Symphonic Youth Orchestra of Greater Indianapolis. Curtain time is 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; there is no admission charge. Info: 327-7135. |
