A reunion for students who attended Abraham Lincoln IPS No. 18 between 1955 and 1965 will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Garfield Park Community Church, 743 E. Basketball Skills Camps
Perry Meridian Lady Falcons Basketball will host mini-clinics during April and May. Players in Grades 3-5 will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Perry Meridian Middle School, 202 West Meridian School Road; those in Grades 6-8 will meet from 7-8:15 p.m. at the school. Relive the Last Hours of Jesus’ Life
A five-week sermon series that details the last hours of Jesus’ life will start at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays, March 19, through April 16 at Southport Heights Christian Church, 7154 S. McFarland Road. Those attending will discover the impact that Jesus’ final words from the cross have had on human history and the significance they have had in everyone’s lives.
Free Training in Disaster Preparedness
Free training for people who want to become certified members of the city’s Community Emergency Response Team will be held Friday-Sunday, March 24-26 at Southport High School, 971 Banta Road. The program is designed to provide basic training in disaster preparedness for residents, which increases the ability of citizens to manage an extreme situation until first responders or other assistance arrives. Historical Society Will Meet
The Perry Township/Southport Historical Society will elect its officers for 2017-18 when meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Perry Township Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave. Those attending are asked to bring desserts to share, and the floor will be open to anyone who wants to tell a April Fools’ Day prank or a joke.
