Featherstone has loved to draw since a child and now shares her talent by teaching others. She has conducted lessons at the Autism Learning Center in Greenwood, Wine & Canvas events and at her condominum in Greenwood. She says her seven years of teaching special needs adults and children has been rewarding.
A native Hoosier who graduated from St. Mark Grade School and Sacred Heart High, Featherstone said she feels that God talks to her through her art.
Two years ago she started learning ceramics at Beech Grove Clay Works. She prefers hand-built techniques and enjoys exploring new ways of decorating the clay pieces, some of which are framed beautifully like 2-D paintings.
She has four daughters, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, some of whom are budding artists.
Featherstone’s work will be displayed Jan. 6-30 at the league, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood, with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8. Hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays. Viewing outside of those hours can be arranged by calling 882-5562.
