Betsy Norton and Timothy Ford star as Sarah Brown and Sky Masterson, respectively, in Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre’s production of “Guys and Dolls.”
The action starts with Nathan Detroit trying to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. He challenges notorious gambler Sky Masterson to a bet that he’s certain to win: take mission girl Sarah Brown to dinner in Havana.
Masterson accepts and begins a seemingly hopeless pursuit of the known prude while Detroit deals with his own situation – his fiancee, Adelaide, who’s been awaiting a wedding date for 14 years. When bets and love seem at odds, the characters are called to question their priorities to make things right. The romantic musical comedy takes the audience from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
Featuring such famous songs as “Luck Be a Lady Tonight” and “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” the production will be on stage through May 15. Tickets range from $41 to $66 and include a buffet dinner.
Discounts are available for children ages 3-15 and groups of 20 or more. A show schedule is posted at www.beefandboards.com, and tickets can be reserved by calling 872-9664.
